Easter Crafts and Egg Hunt
Hayle Heritage Centre re-opens for the 2018 season on 3rd April. Drop in anytime between 11am and 4pm to join in our Easter craft activities, suitable for children of all ages. We'll also be running an Easter Egg Hunt for the beady eyed among you! Drop in anytime throughout the day for some free family fun.

Unfortunately, this talk has had to be cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Join us at 2pm on either Tuesday 3rd April or Tuesday 10th April for a free talk by volunteer Trevor Smitheram, which broadly covers the fascinating story of Hayle's mighty industrial past. The session will also include an exclusive object handling activity, showcasing some of the highlights from our collection.

Local History Talk: H.T.P. and Loggans Mill
H.T.P. or Hosken, Trevithick and Polkinhorn: three famous Hayle names and once the largest conglomerate ever formed in Cornwall. But who were these heroes of Hayle? Join us for a fascinating evening talk on the history of these millers and the iconic building which still dominates Copperhouse today. Talk by Philip Hosken. Entry is £3 per person. NATIONAL EXPLOSIVES WORKS (UPTON TOWANS HAYLE) 1888-1920, a talk by Peter Channon
The National Explosives Works at Upton Towans, Hayle, was in operation between 1888 and 1920. This talk, by Peter Channon, will go into detail about the history of this amazing site which was created from scratch to develop and produce the then new nitro-based explosive ‘DYNAMITE’; a replacement for Gunpowder as used in mining. Utilizing a completely different ‘chemistry based’ process the site pioneered a safe way to produce DYNAMITE to an industrial scale, eventually contracting to HM Government for…
