Harvey’s Foundry Trust has been awarded £540,000 in grant funding from Historic England and SPG Good Growth Funding, towards the renovation of our Grade II* Listed building John Harvey House.
Unfortunately, our beloved building has some structural problems, which meant it went on the Heritage At Risk register in 2019, and we have had to close off sections of the building to the public. Since then, we have been working on gaining funding, to develop a project that will enable us to not only save the building but to upgrade our exhibitions making it bigger and better!
This funding is the first phase in a project that will enable vital drainage work and the correction of a failing floor, this work will enable us to create a new exhibition space.
We will have to close the centre from the end of August 2024 whilst the work takes place, but we will still run heritage activities through the town.
