Hayle Heritage Centre will be re-opening to the public on the 12th of April. The Centre has had a makeover during winter with lots more exciting displays, objects on show and children’s activities on offer.
To celebrate our new look we are going to run a coffee morning on the 12th. Come along from 11am to take a look around the new displays and eat some yummy cakes. We are also running a family friendly craft workshop in the afternoon (from 1-3pm, making paper mâché baskets. This is limited to 10 participants so please contact us to book a place.
On Saturday the 15th we will also be running drop-in children’s Easter craft sessions from 11am- 3pm. An Easter Egg Hunt will also be taking place all day on both the 12th and 15th; children will need to solve a puzzle through the centre to claim their Easter egg!
A new permanent display will explore the topic of ‘Hayle at Leisure’, showcasing objects relating to Hayle Regatta, early surfing and sport in the town. Our redeveloped ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ now features WWII memorabilia, Cornish studio pottery and more. We also have a new dressing up space where children can become historical figures from the town. Our brand new shop offers books, cards and unique gifts, including original artwork made here in Hayle.
Our new ‘Collections Care in Action’ allows visitors to watch volunteers and staff working on our collection; witness the careful restoration of the Biggleston Collection, or the cataloguing and photography of our ever-growing permanent collection.
The Heritage Centre will be open from April to October on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am-4pm. We also hope to open on the first Saturday of the month (11am-3pm) throughout the summer but recommend checking our social media pages in advance of visiting on a Saturday to ensure we’ll be open.
