Easter Crafts and Egg Hunt
Hayle Heritage Centre re-opens for the 2018 season on 3rd April. Drop in anytime between 11am and 4pm to join in our Easter craft activities, suitable for children of all ages. Local History Talk: H.T.P. and Loggans Mill
H.T.P. or Hosken, Trevithick and Polkinhorn: three famous Hayle names and once the largest conglomerate ever formed in Cornwall. But who were these heroes of Hayle? The National Explosives Works at Upton Towans, Hayle, was in operation between 1888 and 1920. This talk, by Peter Channon, will go into detail about the history of this amazing site which was created from scratch to develop and produce the then new nitro-based explosive ‘DYNAMITE’; a replacement for Gunpowder as used in mining.
