Talk by Janet Axten on the history of the Newlyn/St Ives silk company Crysede. Founded in 1918 by Alec Walker and with Tom Heron (artist Patrick Heron’s father) as managing director. Later, the company became Cresta Silks and operated out of workshops in Foundry Square, Hayle, between 1947 and 1953. The talk will concentrate on the role the women played over the years.
